New nutrition standards nationwide will be rolled out Wednesday with the goal of healthier school lunches for children.

The new standards are supposed to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables, the use of whole grains and limit calories based on the age of children. Milk choices are also expected to be changed to fat-free or low-fat.

First lady Michelle Obama and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack are appearing at an elementary school in Alexandria, Va., with celebrity chef Rachael Ray to unroll the new rules.

The new rules represent the first major nutritional overhaul of school meals in 15 years, although they won't be as aggressive as the Obama administration had hoped. Last year blocked the USDA from making some of the changes the department had sought, such as limiting french fries and pizzas.
