Renee Ellmers Will Seek Third Term In U.S. House.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina Rep. Renee Ellmers says she won't run for U.S. Senate next year choosing instead to seek re-election for a third term in the U.S. House.

Ellmers said Tuesday she's decided she'd do the most good if she ran for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. The Republican in her third year in office represents the state's 2nd Congressional District, which stretches in an arc to the north, east and south of Raleigh.

North Carolina state House Speaker Thom Tillis of suburban Charlotte has said he's running for the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan. Tea party favorite and physician Greg Brannon of Cary has said he's also planning a run.
