President Obama Calls NC Store Manager Who Saved 100 Lives

President Barack Obama has called the manager of a Sanford home improvement store who managed to get 100 people safely to the back of the store as a tornado ripped the roof off the building.

A press release from the White House said Obama expressed his gratitude Monday to Lowe's store manager Michael Hollowell for his swift action Saturday that likely saved lives.

The release did not give any additional details on what Obama and the store manager discussed.

Hollowell has deflected praise for his actions, saying he was simply following his company's safety plans.

The tornado that ripped apart the Lowe's was one of dozens that moved across North Carolina on Saturday, killing 21 people.

Fred Garvin hit the nail directly on the head. It was nothing mmore than a PR stunt. The press release is evidence of that. Just like obama's pronunciation of one of his military grouips; Marine Corps(the P is silent). Just like we have 57 states. This is evidence that obama is a 100% idiot.

Obamas Chief of staff Rahm Emanuel in late December 2008. Paraphrased, "It gives us the opportunity to do things quickly that would never get done otherwise." "One and Done" I say! Count on it!!

I do not like the Presidents policies but I do respect the office. I would have talked to him and I'm sure you would too. As Americans we have to respect the office of the President.

You people that think Obama called this guy for any other reason except campaign publicity in NC are fools. His minions are poling the heck out of NC following that call and probing boards like this to see public opinion of the call as a measure of his popularity in the state and how compassion sways opinion. I too am proud of the manager for apparently thinking of others during the emergency but frankly I would be more surprised if we found out otherwise. Ironically our President thinking of himself politically calls to thank a man who thinks of others. So far it looks like maybe 47% of you are going to follow him off the cliff he is leading you too. The rest of us will be here to pick up the pieces.

A press release? Why did the White House put out a press release announcing that Obama called this hero? The call, in and of itself, would have been a fine gesture. The fact that it was done for PR purposes makes it dispicable. NC has become a battleground state and the White House PR machine saw this as an opportunity - an opportunity brought on by a great tragedy and an act of heroism. Just make the call and don't announce it to the public. Word would have gotten out anyway. Shameless.

Some things never change, new story line, but same old posters, same old comments, very predictable. No creditability.

This was a great gesture/surprise to thank Mr. Hollowell for the possible lives saved by his actions. Instead of criticizing the president, maybe you should ask Mr. Hollowell how he feels first.

"I told everybody this was going to happen last week. They(obamas) are a jinx.A typical bad luck schleprock,a serious and evil cloud lags behind everywhere they go." Is it possible that anyone can possibly be stupid enough to post something like this?
