Ohio 3rd Grader Who Weighed 200 Pounds To Live With Uncle

An Ohio judge says a third-grader who was taken from his mother after his weight topped 200 pounds will be removed from foster care and placed in his uncle's custody.

A judge in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court in Cleveland made the decision Wednesday, the boy's ninth birthday.

County child welfare officials had won the court's approval to remove the boy from his mother's custody after case workers said the woman wasn't doing enough to control his weight.

The judge says the boy's weight has dropped to 192 pounds while he's been in foster care for two months. The boy did not appear in court.

He will move in with his uncle in the Columbus area after his classes end for the semester.

This has nothing to do with politics. A child that is let to get morbidly obese is a form of neglect. Plain and simple.

What does the situation of this child have to do with politics? Republican, democrat or independent status does not matter in this case. The only thing that matters is that someone thankfully intervened and possibly changed this child's life preventing terrible diseases that come along with obesity such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. All of which are things that a third grader should not have to be battling with. Thank goodness this child seems to have been given the opportunity to be set towards a healthier lifestyle.

As long as his Uncle's family treats him well, maybe it will work out for him. He may actually want to lose some weight. He's likely felt the sting of peer pressure over it. I hope it all turns out good for him. Now that he's famous, maybe Subway could help him out, like that Jared fella. It would be a nice Christmas gesture on Subway's part.

Ahhh...and the denial only continues by Republicans...it's okay. You brainwash your children, and you're making them out to be horrible people that will one day likely destroy the country and, proabably the world given the chance. It's okay, don't blame youselves, blame your parents and your parents parents. But please, make that chance, educate your children.

Republicans brainwash their children and turn them into horrible people that will one day destroy this country? That's what you are going with? So these horrible wretched people aren't moms and dads that work middle class jobs, put roofs over their kids heads, see that their kids are taking care of? They are monsters, evil curmudgeons out to destroy the world? Wow, you are so misguided and brainwashed that you don't even see that you are doing the very thing you are accusing ALL Republicans of doing. Are there misguided Republicans? Yes. Are there misguided Democrats? Yes. What will destroy this country is this constant line drawing in the sand. Everyone for the most part wants the same fundamental things; job, a shelter, access to food and healthcare, and to be left alone to enjoy our the remaining days on this earth. That's what middle class Republicans want and that's what middle class Democrats want. In the end, the people that live and die by their political party affiliations are the true brainwashed people. You can't take the blinders off for one second to see that its both parties destroying this country. Who would want to be a part of that? People have turned their party affiliations into a religion. Stop drinking the koolaid and think for yourself. You don't think there are rich Democrats feeding middle class democrats garbage in order to get votes? You think they really care about you?

It is difficult for me to comprehend what combination of anger, ignorance, and arrogrance drives your comments. The topic is the life, health, and well being of a child...and you find opportunity to voice your personal vitriol against Republicans and Christians and apparently everyone else in the world who isn't you? Appaling. Get some help for your condition. Learn some compasion. Read the Constitution of the United States, anything, just don't remain in the confused state you live in. Or, is your tirade simply a deliberate attempt to gain attention for yourself while provoking others at the same time? Sick. I can't imagine the childhood or early adult experiences that produced you but you obiviously need our pity rather than our correction. Drop that attitude, that anger, that bitternes, or it will eat you up inside and leave such a destitute shell that not even the vultures and brain dead will desire you for company. Oh yeah, and be glad for this child that he is a member of a society that is brave enough and compassionate enough to intercede on his behalf in an attempt to provide him with a safer, more resourced enviroment to hopefully help him live a better life. This is about the child...not you. It is my experience that in matters such as this, resources are also made available to the home he was removed from to assist in improving the home so as to facilitate the child's return, when possible. Friend, mercy and grace will trimuph over judgement and condemnation. Virtue's I encourage you to cultivate.

I mean...to be fair, I do consider myself better than pretty much everybody else. But that isn't uncommon, everybody believes that, they just don't want to admit it. And we live in a society that will get somebody like this help, but at the sametime will see an entire generation brainwashed by their parents politics, not exactly a stellar record.

Well, let us see. Most republicans are Christians, most Christians are white, Christians make up the majority of the people in the United States, most of the people in the United States are borderline obese, or overweight...so in a way, I guess you could say my problem is with everyone, in general, that is.

What does this have to do with politics. I would bet your kids are more brainwashed than the average kid. Or maybe your spouse took them to safety.
  • by Anonymous on Dec 14, 2011 at 06:47 PM
They can take a kid out of the home for being fat but they can't take children away from Republicans for brainwashing their children, odd.

You are an idiot. There is no comparison between those two topics. Everyone is allowed to make their own political and religious choices in a home. It is not the same as killing a child slowly by letting them snort down every crumb in sight.

What does this have to do with politics? Brainwashing? Are you serious? Keep drawing those lines in the sand and see where this country goes. It is that constant finger pointing from both sides and ignorant comments like yours that is the downfall of this country.

I guess WOW missed the wonderful 8 years of Bush's inane banter. I am the decider! Oh wait...maybe God was the decider since Bush said God was the one who told him we needed a war...humm guess if you're a republican and hear voices it's okay, last I checked when you heard voices that told you to start a holy way you got thrown into the nearest mental health clinic.
