NC Democrat Heath Shuler Won't Seek Re-election To Congress

WASHINGTON (AP) -- North Carolina Democrat Heath Shuler won't seek re-election to the House.

The former professional football player, a frequent critic of House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, announced in a statement Thursday that he will not seek a fourth House term.

Shuler says he and his family have discussed his running for governor, but Shuler's statement does not reveal any decisions. Shuler says he intends to spend more time with his wife and two young children.

Republicans in the North Carolina legislature redrew the state congressional lines, making Shuler's district more friendly to the GOP.

Facts: You are certainly right with your accessment of mr schuler as to him being a dino an it has not only been him being a dino but the current governors has worked so closely with the lacks of mr schuler an the real republicans an their campaign donators an their special instrest groups an the coporate instrest that they are the one that should be truely held responsible for the current state of the states ecomonic condition. for they have allowed the coporate instrest to be totaly extractist to the point of nearly bankrupting the state reveune with their privatizing of an outsourcing of things/ jobs that would have been under normal circumstances been performed by state forces within the states workforce but with all of the contracting out of state supplied services there has been contract fraud that has been allowed to run rampant throughout the state various agencys across this state i feel sure that the current governo is also a real DINO as well thank you

What message? That the GOP only wants to cram their miniscule, narrow minded views on the rest of the country? Hey, you know how to save the country? Cut taxes, which is the way the government raises money. Then, cut programs that are worth millions of dollars, such as the National Endowment for the Arts, Public TV, etc. Then, don't touch the true problems, such as Social Security and Defense. Then, continually deride and pooh pooh anything the Democrats say. That's their way. Shuler is probably tired of the gridlock forced on Washington by the GOP.
