Man Crashes Lamborghini 6 Hours After Winning It

SANTAQUIN, Utah (AP) -- A Utah man who won a $380,000 Lamborghini in a convenience store chain's contest says he crashed the sports car six hours after he got it.

KSL-TV reports the lime green Murcielago Roadster will head to a Las Vegas body shop Wednesday for repairs, days after David Dopp won it from Maverik stores' "Joe Schmo to Lambo" contest.

Dopp says he was taking friends and family on joy rides Saturday when the vehicle hit ice or gravel and started spinning. The car hit some fence posts and came to rest in a field.

The Lamborghini has front-end damage, a punctured wheel and scratches along the passenger side.

Dopp wasn't injured in the crash and says the vehicle is insured.

He also says he'll be more careful next time.

Sell it and buy a car that gets more than 10MPG and is tuned to drive at legal speeds. A true Italian Lamborghini is tuned to drive at 100MPH or better and is really only suited for the Autobahn. You really hurt engine life driving one in America, unless it's altered for our roads and laws. Not to mention visibility is utter trash. They're really just four-wheeled rockets meant to compete with Ferraris (literally, look at their history). Buy American if you feel patriotic, but consider the amount of junkyards in America and the amount of junkyards (and the logistical practicality of them) in Japan and decide if you want a car that will last until it's paid off or a car that will last 15-20 years. If you can afford to buy American every 4-5 years do so, but Japanese cars are built here and sold here by Americans, they're just developed and engineered overseas.

No way he hit gravel or ice. He just lost control of a car he had no business or idea how to drive. Thats not exactly a toyota or something. And yeah, it's really gonna hurt when he has to pay taxes on that 6 hour joy ride!

A car that can go 200 miles per hour is pretty much what I'd call a "theoretical delight". The fastest you can legally drive it is about 70 [on the interstate]. What's the point? Pride of ownership and bragging rights, I suppose...but still, that's more car than most folks [me included] can handle.
