WATCH VIDEO: Man Takes To Streets To Help Homeless

(WILX) It's been three days since Mike Karl took to the streets of Lansing, Michigan.

Not surprisingly, the cold has already taken its toll.

"My knuckles are red, I'm chapped, my face is cold," said Karl.

But the reason he's out there in the first place is more than enough to keep him going.

"I want to provide a meal, I want to provide warmth and I want provide a way for the public to see what the need is," he said.

Each of the last three years, Karl, a worker at the GM Delta Township plant, has spent one week in November back on the streets, after being homeless for six months, eight years ago. He meets Lansing's homeless and finding out what they need to get themselves back on their feet.

In the meantime, he updates his Facebook and keeps a live-stream of everyone he meets, allowing everyday people to get involved.
