(WPTV) It's a surprise seven-year-old Ian Smikle never saw coming.
At his Royal Palm Beach baseball practice Sunday, his dad surprised him with a homecoming after a six month deployment in Kyrgystan.
"I'm about to greet my son for the first time in six months and he has no idea," Dennis Smikle, who serves in the Air Force, said.
Smikle's wife Olivia says it was the coach's idea.
"The coach asked me when my husband was coming home and I told him the day and he said I will take it from there," Olivia Smikle said.
So after baseball practice on Sunday, Ian got the surprise of a lifetime.
With tears of joy, he shouted out, "Daddy!"
"I didn't know Daddy was going to be here on the baseball field. It was a good treat. I really liked it," Ian Smikle said.
