AOL Is 8th Advertiser To Pull Limbaugh Ads

AOL Inc. says it is suspending its advertising on Rush Limbaugh's radio show in reaction to his derogatory comments about a law student who testified about birth control.

At least seven other companies have pulled ads from Limbaugh's show because of his comments.

AOL says the company determined that Limbaugh's comments "are not in line with our values."

Limbaugh called 30-year old law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and "prostitute" last week. Fluke testified to Democratic members of Congress in support of a requirement that health care companies provide coverage for contraception. Limbaugh apologized over the weekend.

Previous Story

Radio host Rush Limbaugh has apologized to a Georgetown University law student for calling her insulting names.

He had come under intense criticism from women's groups, politicians from both political parties and some of the advertisers on his talk show.

Limbaugh said Saturday on his website that he had chosen the wrong words in his comments about law student Sandra Fluke. He said he "did not intend a personal attack" on her.

Limbaugh had called her a "prostitute" and a "slut" after she testified before Congress about a need for insurance coverage for birth control.

President Barack Obama had telephoned Fluke on Friday to express his support.

As of today (3-12-2012) 141 corporations have pulled their ads from Lush and other right-wing talk shows. In addition, today's show (on Lush's flag ship station WABC) had 81 ads aired. 74 of those ads were from the ad council. Now the fun part (read carefully tea partiers) - 28 ads were from government agencies. That means that over 30% of Lush's ads were from the government - would that make Lush a welfare DJ in your opinion? Shouldn't you protest that? How would you react if MSNBC got 30% of their ads from the government? >>the sound of crickets with occasional aneurysm head pops goes here<<

When "Obamacare" passed, Rush vowed he would leave the country. Well, we're still waiting for him to leave. Good boy though, he found a way to be relevant again doing the one thing he does best... putting his foot in his enormous mouth.

Maher's on HBO with no sponsors. Rush can say whatever he wants......that's his right. His advertisers also have the right to pull their ads from his show. The 1st amendment gives us the right to free doesn't give us the right to be on the radio. That right is provided by advertisers and station owners, you know, capitalism.

Rush is broad-casted all over the country with more than 3000 advertisers. The lost of 8,10,15 or more, is not going to take him off the air.You may not like the way he may say it some times,Heck, I don't always like the way he saids it , but he does lay it on the line, the way it is,and makes no bones about it.There's a very large part of our country that feels and thinks the same way he does but won't say it.But they will show it in their vote.Unlike Lavon and his buddies, Samuel Jackson and all those liberals out there who voted for Obama base on the color of his skin, most Americans have enough sense to see that in three and a half years Obama has done nothing to improve this Country.Once again that 12.8% of the population is not going to get him elected and the other part of the 87.2% that did get his vote in 2008,won't be there in Nov.

I'm convinced that studies will find Rush Limbaugh is responsible for Alzheimer's Disease. If you listen to him long enough, and he starts to make any sense to you, then it may be too late. Rush maiking sense sets off a chain reaction within the brain that leads to a total loss of rational thought. I still remember his rare disease that caused his hearing loss, thus causing him to slur his words. It couldn't have had anything to do with the 10-15 Oxycotin he was downing daily. What a hate mongering piece of horse manure he is. But, if you like him, don't worry. You won't remember it (or anything else) in a few years.

Limbaugh is a bully and a verbal rapist. He has seriously abused his position of power and influence to a degree that endangers children and women (who are vulnerable to dangerous or predatory bullying behaviors) as well as the possibility of serious give-and-take in a democratic society. I would only accept his "apology" after he has done some serious TIME.

It is a violation of federal law to air obscene programming at any time. It is also a violation of federal law to air indecent programming or profane language during certain hours. Congress has given the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) the responsibility for administratively enforcing these laws. The FCC may revoke a station license, impose a monetary forfeiture or issue a warning if a station airs obscene, indecent or profane material.
