House Votes, Payroll Tax Cut Extension Passed

The House has passed legislation sought by President Barack Obama to extend Social Security payroll tax cuts through 2012. But the bill also includes a requirement for construction of an oil pipeline that has drawn a veto threat.

The bill includes key parts of the jobs program Obama asked Congress to approve in September, including an extension of the social security payroll tax cut through 2012 and continued funding for unemployed benefits for long-term jobless Americans. And it would head off a threatened 27-percent cut in fees to doctors who treat Medicare patients.

The bill also tries to provoke a decision on the proposed keystone X-L oil pipeline from Canada to Texas. Obama wants to defer a decision on the pipeline until after the 2012 election.

The vote was 234-193. The measure now goes to the Senate, where top Democrats strongly oppose the pipeline provision.

Fifty-six percent of Americans think taxes should be increased on households earning $250,000 a year or higher to help lower the deficit, while 37 percent say taxes should not be raised on those households.

It is so funny tax the rich? When there are so many rich Democtats. Tax the rich? The rich and poor can use tax deductions , business , personnal expence tax deductions , stock losses. So many legal tax deductions that are legal. My suggestion is hire a tax attorney or accountant. To save you from paying the government money you can save your family.

Maybe you really just don't have a firm grasp of reality (you're a Republican after all) but do you really think a person, who isn't rich, can afford to hire an accountant? The answer, beyond the obvious, is no.

Remember movies stars, sports stars, or any other 'entertainer' does not classify as one of the rich, even if they own multiple mansions, cars, boats, planes, whatever. That's how most liberals see it, they think only people who own businesses and employ legal citizens should have to pay all the taxes, since you know, they’re all evil monsters bent on destroying ‘something’, not really sure what that ‘something’ is, all I know is that it’s interchangeable with whatever happens to be interesting at the time.

All the bickering is irrelevant. The Republicans will take control of the House and Senate in the 2012 elections bringing some much needed common sense to Washington. Americans are tired of liberals and the Democratic party ruining this great country. Vote people, VOTE! Oh! Obama will be out as well. A man can dream can't he?

NEWS JUST ANNOUNCED... China to impose import duties on American made cars & trucks ! obama is a failure ! BEIJING (Reuters) -- China said today it would impose anti-subsidy and anti-dumping duties on imported cars made in the United States, the latest in a series of trade spats between the world's two largest economies. The duties, to affect the Detroit 3 and some U.S. units of foreign automakers, will begin tomorrow and last two years, the Commerce Ministry said on its Web site. Cars that have engine capacity at or above 2.5 liters will be hit with duties ranging from 2 percent to 21.5 percent. General Motors Co. will face anti-dumping and countervailing duties ranging from 8.9 percent to 12.9 percent. Chrysler Group's will range from 6.2 percent to 8.8 percent, while the U.S. units of BMW AG and Mercedes-Benz will face duties of 2 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively. The ministry's statement said U.S.-made cars and SUVs benefited from subsidies and had been dumped into the China market, causing "substantial damage to China's domestic industry". U.S.-China trade tensions have been mounting in recent months, particularly in the solar industry, where tit-for-tat trade probes have underscored leaders' warnings of a rising tide of protectionism amid gloomy global economic forecasts.

Sounds like a good time to levy tariffs on Chinese goods doesn't it? Bring the jobs back. Buy American

We can levy tariffs against China but it won't bring jobs back to the US because the Chinese products will still be less expensive. All it will do is raise the prices that US consumers are paying. US manufacturing can not compete with China due to unions running up the cost to produce goods domestically. What do you think drove manufacturing out of the US in the first place....unions and regulations.

Don't let the libs talking points distract you. The Republicans offered and PASSED an extension of the payroll tax cut and the building of the pipeline with a GUARANTEE of tens of thousands of jobs, billions in tax revenue and a stable oil supply from a close US partner. The Republicans are the only ones that have passed a budget. We are nearing 1,000 days since the dems have passed one. The dems just yesterday rejected 2 balanced budget amendments. The dems want you out of work and dependent on their new government slave master.

Simple; obama is getting money from the unions(which will benefit from the pipeline). He receives money from the tree huggers(which do not want the pipeline built). If he chooses either way right now he will lose millions of campaign dollars. Why do you think he wants to wait after the election before making a decision? obama claims he wants to be sure it doesn't hurt the environment....impact studies have been done already.

So, when your fellow Americans voted for Hopey Dopey, you took a pay cut. Why? How long has gas prices been over 3 dollars a gallon/ Years. How long has unemployment been over 7%...years. Did you notice when minimum wage went up, so did your prices? Its called wealth redistribution and it happens to be yours. Of course Hopey Dopey will tell you he cut taxes on those of us working...while telling up gas necessarily went up for the sake of the environment and his no drill, no pipeline mentality.

Of course O will veto it, it will actually do something to help more jobs be availalbe without the govt. borrowing and spending trillions more. Why would O want to do something to help this country when his goal is to destroy it to the point that we become a communist nation?
