Gingrich Had No Comment On January Jobs Figures In Morning Event

Newt Gingrich had no comment about January's jobs figures at an event late Friday morning in Nevada because, the former House speaker explained, he hadn't seen them yet.

Gingrich was asked several times about this morning's jobs report, which showed the economy added over 240,000 jobs and the unemployment rate falling to 8.3 percent, while working the rope line following an event in which he assailed President Obama's economic record.

“I haven’t seen them yet,” he told reporters late morning and was overheard by some members of the press telling his deputy press secretary, "I don't know what to tell them on job numbers. I don't know what to say now. These people are driving me up the wall with this."

Gingrich would address the January figures shortly after the event concluded in a pre-taped interview with CNN.

"He's [Obama] gonna take credit for it. We've been in the longest deepest recession since the depression," Gingrich said. "I think he [Obama] will get some limited credit and it depends on how much the economy recovers and what the rest of the year looks like."

Gingrich took aim at Obama and his main Republican rival, Mitt Romney, at this morning's event, just a day before Saturday's Nevada caucus.

“It isn't good enough for the Republican Party to nominate Obama lite,” Gingrich said inside Stoney's Rockin Country bar a few miles from the Las Vegas strip.

The former House speaker, who frequently labels President Obama “the best food stamp president in history,” today took those remarks a step further and threw Romney in the mix.

“Obama is big food stamp, he's {Romney] little food stamp but they both think food stamps are okay,” Gingrich told the crowd, which had a couple hundred people in attendance. “I don't think food stamps are a future for America.”

The Speaker gave one of his more energetic speeches Friday, drawing a number of standing ovations on a day when he has just two public events scheduled.

On Wednesday morning, Gov. Romney made what some believe are controversial comments about the poor and Gingrich has continued to criticize Romney for “his boo-boo” and today labeled him as rich.

"We did not create Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac so rich guys like Mitt Romney and Goldman Sachs could make money," the speaker.

We are still in the primaries trying to figure who will be the next president 1. Anybody but Obama wins at 5% more votes. 2. Regardless whether its Mitt Romney or Rick, the party has not even united on the front yet. 3. I can only estimate that when they do, the 5% will even swing further to anybody but Obama as history shows, repeatedly, always, written in stone, solid and as always. No matter what you post, you are wasting your time, its over, get it?

Well, Donald Duck is retired and George Bush is run his full two terms allowed, so anybody but Obama comes down to the main three. The DNC went after Cain and got him disscredited, so he is out. I guess you have a problem with blacks running for president.

You could have fooled me. Looking at the voter turnout at these events, the GOP are fighting a lost cause, nobody likes the current crop of GOP candidates, and the numbers are proving it so. You have been ranting for months "anybody but Obama", well it looks like its gonna be NOBODY BUT OBAMA in the 2012 Presidental elections.

The DNC went after Cain and got him discredited???? Where have you been? Cain himself said Perry was responsible. You your brain..(if possible)..if the DNC had this info on Cain, they would have waited until he was the nominee. Cain was just a Token, just like Palin was, but his popularity got out of control. He had to be stopped because he had no chance of beating Obama and replaced with Romney. Romney was the only one who stood half a chance of beating Obama.

This did not have anything to do with abortion. The hospitals wanted to not offer insurance policies that covered birth control!! While you try to make every woman's issue abortion-you are uninformed in this case. This was about birth control, something that Protestants believe is OK! You rave about unwanted children, but now you want to deny American women birth control while the Fed. government pays for Viagra. Once more, the Republican party is anti-woman!!

Apparently, you have absolutely no knowledge about the issue yet you posted it here. This is about paying for abortion, get it? That is the hot topic. The government cannot force us to pay for abortions yet they are. Don't sidestep the issue, focus.

The Catholics, through the Republicans, are trying to dictate anti-birth control! Have you not heard of the bills they have already proposed in Miss.-which was soundly defeated! They are now trying to get this same anti-birth control bill through other states. So, you go ahead and ignore this and claim it isn't happening, but the American women are very aware of the attack being made on them by the GOP!

Just look over Snake Oil. The bottom line is this when it comes to him or her. He or she is a straight Obama hater. He don't dislike Obama he hates Obama! He don't disagree with Obama he hates Obama! So it doesn't matter what the President does whether it' good or bad, he hates him regardless. President Obama can pay off everyone of Snake Oil's bill today and he would still hate Obama. Im sure most of you have come to realize that Snake Oil is as nutty as they come. The guy is about 3 seconds from going off the deep end.

I'll be glad to answer that-again, for the umpteen time! Prior to the 60's, the Republican party was the leader in civil rights. The South was heavily Democrat and had been since the Civil War. In the 60's-it turned, which it has done several times in our nation's history! The 60's brought the split over Viet Nam and the Civil Rights Bill. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Bill and the Republicans nominated Goldwater. Those two things help create an exodus of anti-integration southern democrats to leave the Democratic party. Some went independent and some went Republican-they were known as Dixie-crats. At the same time, the civil right leaders found a home in the pro-Civil Rights Democratic party. Martin Luther King Jr. became a Democrat and worked with that party through out the 60's. That change has continued and expanded until today! I am a Democrat-White like many here in the south. I was raised by southern, white democrats who at the risk of their own professions preached against segregation and racism from their white pulpits every Sunday. Sorry you were not blessed as I was.

Now Newt is accusing Obama of waging war against religion. Well, I'm not Catholic! I believe in contraception and while he might follow the Pope rather than the law of the US, thank God Obama does not! Obama is defending the laws of the USA! Those "Catholic" hospitals receive payment from Medicare and Medicaid-both are tax funded! They are NOT independent financially. Insurance companies are NOT religious organizations; therefore if they want to give insurance, it should follow the insurance laws! I am sick of certain denominations trying to say that just because I don't want to support their tennants, I am against religion! This is EXACTLY why our forefathers were so emphatic about the separation! Many of them had fled Europe to escape the Pope and now Gingrich says if Obama doesn't back him-his is against religion? Gingrich is Against Protestants!!!

You tell me where it says the President should uphold the beliefs of just one church? Show me where it says the US laws should support the Catholic church? Show me where it says that anyone who goes to the hospital at ORU should be forced to have a "laying on of hands" ceremony! It doesn't! It clearly says for the US government to stay out! The constituion does NOT say for the US government to DO anything! It says for the government NOT to do anything!-Stay OUT!! There is no law saying one can't be Catholic, but there is also no right for the church to be in the health insurance business, with government (tax paid) funds and use those funds to enforce their religion!

So instead of an answer, you ask a question? The point is, you want me to stoop to your level and pay for abortions? You are saying the government has the right to force me to pay for murder? I don't think you understand the implications of doing this to catholics and christians. This alone will force catholics that are democrat to stay away from the polls. They simply will not vote for murderers. Its like gay marriage, we don't even make it past gay behavior and you want us to santion it? Yes, we don't have gay catholics, have celebate people that might be that way period. So tell me again the answer to my question, where does the constitution force me to pay for murder?

Nobody is making you pay for ANYTHING! This was about insurance policies offered by the hospital to their employees! Private insurance! They have to offer policies that include abortion coverage IF the employee is willing to pay for it!! You and the GOP expect to pay for Viagra every day!!! That is covered in Medicare! You don't seem to upset about 65yo being able to father children! Apparently you don't even know what this decision really covered, you just jumped the gun a began ranting! These hospitals wanted to be EXEMPT from the type of insurance available to their employee-even those who are NOT Catholic! When you offer insurance-you are not a church-you are a business!

With the European Debt Crisis still rolling our economy is at the mercy of the EU and their ability to pay their debts and the strength of the US dollar. The more we borrow, using this administrations plan, the weaker the purchasing power of our dollar becomes. When Obama came into office the dollar had the purchasing value of $2.50 a gallon. Now its $ 3.60. The employment figures were predicted but are temporary. Our trading partners and deficit will prove our undoing.
