Eight U.S. Soldiers Charged In Death Of Fellow Soldier In Afghanistan

The U.S. Army says eight American soldiers have been charged in the Oct. 3 death of a fellow soldier in southern Afghanistan.

Pvt. Danny Chen, a 19-year-old from Manhattan, was found in a guard tower in Kandahar province with what the Army has described as "an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The soldiers remain in Afghanistan but have been removed from their duty positions and sent to a different base. They are under increased supervision.

The military said the eight soldiers from Chen's company faced charges ranging from dereliction of duty, assault, negligent homicide and involuntary manslaughter.

The Army announced earlier it was investigating Chen's death.

Chen was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based in Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Im pretty sure none of what you typed is the truth. You are spouting off stories that you have obviously made up in your head. 1 you would have been fired from your job. 2 threatening to kill a boat load of people is HIGHLY illegal, and 3. I'm pretty sure a boat load of Navy seals wouldn't have been gasing up at some random marina-- they would have gone to BASE. and They would have had provisions for food. Their "captian" wouldn't have been begging you for peanuts. IDIOT. and if you were SUCH a big shot you would print your name NOT OBAMANOT.

Think again smarty. No need to lie here.I did not get fired because the owners were in florida on their vacation and knew nothing about the incodent and the cook was in the car taken her break.I did not threaten to kill a boat load of people. That is clearly made up in your head...Alot you know about where they do some of their training.Yes they gas up their quite frequently or at least they used to.The captain did not beg.I gave the guy the peanuts...No big shot here.Had to do what I thought was reasonable at the time, and it worked.Try and clear your fussing mind and reread that totally truthful comment.I really dont know why am I even bothering with you.You clearly hear what you want to hear.

I do believe "Well I had me a cigarette lighter in my shirt pocket grabbed it with my right hand and grabbed the gas nozzle with the left hand squirted about a quart in the Alligator river right next to their boat and said next one with a smart mouth and wants to threaten me with bodily harm will get a quart or more squirted on them while showing them my lighter" Qualifies as threatening people. But I'm sure it doesn't matter since it never happened anyway.

Obamanot - You're heartless and ignorant. You're obviously single and have no kids. If you had children, you would think differently. Only other thing I can think of is you're the only living heart donor - good luck with that moron.

What would you do if three of them held you down and acted like they were going to sodomize you in some sort of hazing ritual? (And I am a male) Happened to me in the mid 80's. It nearly drove me to suicide. I eventually was discharged from the military because that incident messed me up so bad. I still struggle with memories of that incident. Was it all on me Obamanot? I don't think so.

What would I do.Revenge is bitter sweet.I have had my run ins with a hole boat load of navy seals(10 or more) working at a marina as a dock master some 20 plus years ago.I went outside to gas their boat and you would not believe the things they were saying to me.WITN would not post it.They were very undiscipline until they found out who had the upper hand. One of them told me they were going to get out and grind me up while the others were egging him on and the captain or head man (whatever) was just standing there grinning.Well I had me a cigarette lighter in my shirt pocket grabbed it with my right hand and grabbed the gas nozzle with the left hand squirted about a quart in the Alligator river right next to their boat and said next one with a smart mouth and wants to threaten me with bodily harm will get a quart or more squirted on them while showing them my lighter. You ought to have seen their eyes. The captain or whoever finally told them to act more civilized and shut the F up.After handing the captain or whoever the gas nozzle so he could gas his own boat which was full of idiots I walked calmly back into the marina.Well here come the captain and navy seals wanting to come in and get something to eat.I told the captain pay for your gas and leave. We dont serve uncivilzed people here.Well the captain apologized for his crew and said look we have not eat a thing in 8 hours. We have been diving the for a while now and very hungry. I accepted it went and grabbed two packages of Lance peanuts and handed to him and said here this is on me, improvise.Go steal a few crabs out the crab pots and go flounder diving.I laugh as they left.Never saw them again the 6 months I worked at that god aweful place...You got to stand tall and dont let people walk all over you.Grow I spine.

Sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to the young man's family. He was only 19 years old. Chen was just a baby. Father God please give his family strength during this sad time.

It's sad when people die and all we see us a fourum to critize our president. Where were you critizers when bush bankrupted 30% of the economy? Now you want what was broken in 8 years to be fixed in 4 with no help you try it and let me know how that works out for you.

Actually...Bush did not bankrupt the economy. The Clinton administration did the massive campaign of everyone owning a home and home ownership reached its peak under him. Unfortunately, the majority of americans borrowed more than they could pay back on everything including real estate and could not make the payments. Yeah...I your statement about bush bankrupting 30% of the economy is not correct. It was people like us being stupid with our personal finances that caused this problem.

Get it right, the NAVY SEALS took out Osama, not Obama AND it was Bush's policies that Obama campaigned to do away with upon taking office that were followed in the process. Obama is a complete failure in everything he has done as so called commander in chief. Back to topic at hand, this is a horrible tragedy and I hope all involved are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. May god rest his soul, I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Fact is: "OBAMA is Commander in Chief!" When Busy Do Nothing Bush was president he was Commander in Chief. And I'm more than sure that you don't believe that Obama has completely failed at everything he has attempted as Commander in Chief! Do you?

What in the world is WRONG WITH PEOPLE?? I heard this story on the news. He wrote letters home talking about how he was bullied and hazed constantly. It was so bad that this poor man saw no way out of the horrible abuse and took his own life. People, please stop bullying each other. Stop thinking making fun of each other is funny. It's hurtful. Deeply, painfully hurtful. I am so sorry to hear about this man's death and pray for peace and healing for his family.
