Crystal Cathedral Congregation In CA Relocating

The Crystal Cathedral's pastor says her congregation will relocate and the Orange County megachurch will get a new name.

Senior Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman said Sunday that the ministry will be renamed Hope Center Of Christ.

In a video posted on the Crystal Cathedral website, Schuller Coleman said an announcement regarding the new location will be made in the next few weeks.

The financially struggling church sold its iconic glass-paned home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange last month to emerge from federal bankruptcy protection.

Its founder, Dr. Robert Schuller, retired in 2006 after seeing a weekly prayer service at an Orange County drive-in movie theater evolve into a global televangelist empire.

On Saturday, Robert Schuller announced he was stepping down from the Crystal Cathedral board of directors.

Sad to see the Crystal Cathedral end, but God doesn't need a building and the church will go on and be stronger for it. Our God is a wonderful loving God who works miracles. I'll put my trust in God over selfish "me-centered" people any day.

Glad to see this scam artist fail. I'm sure some of the christian flock will continue to send him and others like him their hard earned cash just to buy their way into that streets of gold theme park in the sky.

It's all superstition and religion is harmful and parasitic in my view, but my parents liked him. It's progress, but sad all the same to see the things they enjoyed ending.

You're entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. Please remember to practice what you PREACH and try not to drag anyone else down your chosen path also.

Churches are indeed parasitic and harmful, especially for the poor. They encourage religious hatred and fear. These organizations are as evil as any other "religion" seen in other parts of the world.
