City To Make Superhero Wish Come True For Boy Battling Cancer

(NBC News) At some point in their life every little boy dreams of being a super hero.

On Friday an entire city of heroes will make one little boy's dream come true.

5-year-old Miles has been battling leukemia.

He's in remission now, and when the Make-A-Wish Foundation asked what would make his recovery a bit easier he said he wanted to be Batman.

It started with a few e-mails, then a few more.

Now thousands have volunteered to turn downtown San Francisco into Gotham City, setting the scene for Miles to rescue someone on a cable car, stop a bank robbery in process and then stop a kidnapping.

"People are flying in, some teachers are bringing their classrooms, I'm overwhelmed," says Patricia Wilson, Executive Director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation for the San Francisco Greater Bay Area.

A super-human effort for a kid who at 5 has already taken-on the toughest villain there is.

"Obviously we'll never replicate this, this is just a moment in time of something goes viral and a city comes alive," Wilson says.
