Accidental overdoses in kids have gone up 20 percent in recent years, now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are launching a campaign to prevent them from happening.
Experts at the CDC say every year thousands of children swallow or eat medicine without adult supervision, landing them in the emergency room.
A new campaign aims to prevent these overdoses from happening by telling parents to keep all medication out of reach, and out of sight. Experts say it's important to put medicine back in a safe spot after you use it, and to make sure you hear the safety cap click when you're done with the bottle.
Experts say accidents still happen with these safety measures in place. They suggest parents program the phone number for poison control in their phone: 1(800) 222-1222.
