Update: Bomb At US Base In Afghanistan Wounds 77 Americans

NATO says 77 U.S. troops were wounded in a suicide attack against American base in eastern Afghanistan.

A massive bomb exploded on a truck filled with firewood just outside the gates of a combat outpost in eastern Wardak province. Officials say five Afghans were killed, four of them civilians, including a 3-year-old girl. No U.S. troops were killed, but 77 were wounded.

The provincial governor says the powerful blast damaged about 100 shops near the military base.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Earlier, they had issued a statement vowing to fight until all foreign troops leave. They also denied having any role in the Sept. 11 attacks and accused the U.S. of using them as a pretext to invade the country.

Yesterday's attack occurred just seven miles east of where the Taliban shot down a U.S. military helicopter last month, killing 30 Americans.

More than 400 NATO service members have been killed in Afghanistan this year, at least 307 of them Americans.

NATO said says that the Taliban truck bomb that exploded late Saturday at the gate of the American base in eastern Afghanistan also wounded 25 Afghan civilians. Spokesman Maj. Russell Fox said Sunday that all the international troops at the combat outpost are American.

Officials say the massive blast killed at least two Afghan civilians, including a three-year-old girl. NATO says no foreign forces were killed in the attack on Combat Outpost Sayed Abad in Wardak province.

these animals will kill their own children if they thought it brought them some sort of reward. God bless that little baby and all the civilians who are injured for this evil cause. God bless the military too--its just that they sign up for the possibility, whereas the innocent civilians seem to be caught in the crossfires. i hope they come home soon--we should leave their country.

I hate that any Americans were injured over there. Some of us have family members serving and to just make a statement that 77 were injured with out any more details has us worring a little bit more than usual. Please don't post a story like this until you have all the facts.
