Karzai: NATO Should Pull Back To Big Bases In Afghanistan

Afghanistan's president says international troops should pull back from rural areas and villages to main bases and that Afghan troops should take the lead for countrywide security in 2013.

President Hamid Karzai said Thursday that Afghan troops are ready to take over protecting their country.

He says that the transfer of authority should happen before the current target date, which is the end of 2014. He said he told this to the U.S. Defense Secretary.

Anonymous is right about the retirement thing! They don't like us, they don't want us, they don't appreciate what we're trying to do for them. Karzai and the rest of them in power most likely have got their pockets full of our money so now they're ready for us to go. Let's oblige them and leave them to tear each other up after we're gone. For them, that would be business as usual. After we clear out, maybe we could secretly arm each of the factions over there with really BIG weapons so they coould REALLY go at it!

We have been training their military and police forces for about 10 years now and the Afgans are not ready to protect their own country. What is with those people? What is with us? Talk about slow learners. The initial Afghan recruits are halfway to retirement now!!!

That's a shame. I was hoping to buy some property and set up trailer parks there. Guess now I will have to put more money into my midnight sky writing business.
