People around the world will pause to remember the "King of Pop" Friday, on the first anniversary of his death.

Michael Jackson's death one year ago today sent shockwaves around the world.

Events to remember the music star Friday include the unveiling of a monument by his mother, Katherine Jackson, in his hometown of Gary, Indiana, along with a candlelight vigil.

A special tribute at the Apollo Theater in New York, where a moment of silence will be observed at 2:26 p.m. (5:26 p.m. eastern time), the time of Jackson's death.

The Forest Lawn Cemetery, where Jackson is buried will be open to the public for fans to pay their respects, however, the mausoleum where his body is laid to rest will only be open to family members and designated guests.

Yesterday marks the one-year anniversary of King of Pop, Michael Jackson's death. Our parents reminice about the exact location of where they were when John Lennon or President John F. Kennedy were shot and those were the events that went down in history and defined American culture. Michael Jackson's death was one of those moments for me. I'll never forget sitting in my office, eight months pregnant and preparing for my maternity leave. movie trailers

Apparently, many people don't believe in our justice system. What does not guilty mean to you? I'm sure you'd come up with another snide & media promoted lie. This man did more for charity than any other celebrity who ever lived. But no one mentions that. May his family & loved ones be blessed with peace & comfort from God. And may he now get the rest & peace, that he so sought in life. And could never get because of people who believe media lies & spread them.

Carmine, do you remember when he held one of his babies by the leg while standing on a balcony? He should have been arrested for child endangerment for that.

MJ was an awesome performer and a even better human being. He was never charged with anything!! MJ was framed because of who he was. True, alot of things are going on in the world but please, stop calling him some freak. He was none of that. He would never harm a child!! Get your facts straight!! I just had to speak up, because everyone is speaking so ill of him. RIP, Michael.

in 100 years, people will say, who was Micheal Jackson? Over time he will die out and become just a headstone in some graveyard. go out and look at old graveyards, you can tell the ones where all the family has finally died. . .no flowers, weeds, neglect, broken headstones. . it happens and it will happen to him.
