Officer And Two Men Die In Shootout

Authorities say a shootout at an apartment complex in suburban Dallas, Texas has killed a police officer and two other men, including the son of Dallas' police chief.

Lancaster police say the officer was responding to a domestic disturbance at the River Bend apartments around 6 p.m. Sunday when the call was upgraded to shots fired. When the officer arrived, an exchange of gunfire erupted.

Lancaster Police Chief Keith Humphrey says the 37-year-old officer was the father of two and had been with the department for five years. His name hasn't been released.

Dallas Police Assistant Chief Charles Cato says David O'Neal Brown Jr. was killed in the incident and is the son of Dallas' police chief. The third victim hasn't been identified.
