High Court Upholds Anti-Terror Law

The Supreme Court has upheld a federal law that bars "material support" to foreign terrorist organizations, rejecting a free speech challenge from humanitarian aid groups.

The court ruled 6-3 Monday that the government may prohibit all forms of aid to designated terrorist groups, even if the support consists of training and advice about entirely peaceful and legal activities.

I didn't realize that free speech and sending money to terrorists was the same thing. Surprisingly the SC got this one right although I question the sanity of the 3 dissenters.

So does this mean that the CIA and DOD are going to have to stop funding covert operations that enlist the help of known terrorists like the Mumbai hotel bombing in India last year, or funding and training groups like the Taliban, which the Carter administration did with Zbignew Brzinski in the 1980's?
