Two Camp Lejeune Marines Killed In Afghanistan

Military officials say two North Carolina-based Marine sergeants have been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced on Wednesday that 22-year-old Sgt. Derek L. Shanfield of Hastings, Pa., and 24-year-old Sgt. Zachary J. Walters of Palm Coast, Fla., died on June 8 in Helmand province.

Shanfield and Walters were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

    If they let our boys shoot first, this wouldn't have happened. The only way to win that war over there is to level that country and every Afghan in it.

    Too many, too young, too soon. I want the troops to be pulled from the Middle East, and to come home to protect our USA. God Bless the men and women of the military.
