Feds Open Criminal Probe Of Gulf Oil Spill

Attorney General Eric Holder says federal authorities have opened criminal and civil investigations into the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill.

Holder would not specify Tuesday which companies or individuals might be the targets of the probe. He says federal clean air and pollution laws give him the power to open the investigations.

Holder met with attorneys general from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama on Tuesday.

"The best defense is a strong offense." Fix the problem first and make clean up preperations the top priority in this disaster. There needs to be cooperation at this point.

Typical@8:30pm your decription of the Obama Administration also describes YOU a "Hipocrite". How typical of Barack Obama; always looking for someone else to blame and never accepting any responsibility himself.

This is a typical Obama move. His administration gave this particular platform a safety award recently. His administration granted BP a waiver of several federal regualtions recently for this platform. Obama took more money from BP during the 2008 election than any other candidate in the last 20 years. Fanilly, about 10 days ago, Obama blamed this whole event on the policies of the Bush administration. Now, he is dispatching his boy Holder down there to find someone to blame. How typical of Barack Obama; always looking for someone else to blame and never accepting any responsibility himself.

Anonymous Location: Greenville on Jun 1, 2010 at 06:05 PM, sorry to hurt you pumkin feelings, the previous admin is not in office to blame. I am sure this is Bush's fault as you and Roger imply...are you guys old enough to tie you shoes or is the water still too cold? Cactus, what about the investigation on ACORN or the Philly thugs with bats....at a voting booth? Hmmmm, you don't think this corrupt admin has something up their sleeves? Of course they do. I just wonder why Bobby Jindal, who tried to put up an environment berm to protect the wetlands, couldn't get allowance to it. It was against the federal law...and he cannot even protect the environment with the laws mean to protect the environment. Its sort of like getting a hurrican approved by the feds...Now thats hope and change. Pelosi is not a catholic...you are not allowed to believe abortion is....OK. Its not an option in the church. She could change to Muslim, but they would kill her.

Now here is a person (the AG) that wanted to investigate the new Az. immigration bill without reading the ten page document, makes me wonder how well prepared he will be for this "investigation". Oh well, more obama drama and no conclusions. Since Nancy Polsi believes and governs by "THE WORD" (see the drudge report) maybe she can just pray the oil away. Folks you do need to view the drudge report and see nancy, she looks like a Muslim in her head covering.

Does not matter who is in office all resources should go to stopping the leak, cleaning up the mess, then deal with those responsible, like the federal inspector that did not inspect.

Moderators Nightmare is correct, they should meet behind closed doors, banning all cameras just like Dick Cheney did with them in the 90's. Ooops By the way, where is Cheney? normally he is all over the news spreading his comments, now he is as quiet as a mouse. OH!!! I forgot he used to work for Haliburton, could it be he is somehow involved?

to anon in Greenville: They gubmint has five years to pursue charges. Don't you think it would be better to pursue those charges after the event, when you need co-operation between a private industry and the gubmint?
