BP Agrees To Show 'Top Kill' Video

BP has agreed at the request of the Obama administration to show video of the "top kill" designed to choke off the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company plans to try to execute the tricky procedure as early as dawn Wednesday. It's the latest attempt to plug the devastating oil leak.

The "top kill" involves force-feeding heavy drilling mud and cement onto the leak.

BP started showing live feed of the leak itself after pressure from the Obama administration. Lawmakers had said they had learned that the "top kill" procedure would not be shown.

The company said in a statement Tuesday that it will display the video. The decision came after discussions with the federal official overseeing the spill response, Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen.

Somebody, the serious point, is there are nearly 4 thousand platforms in the gulf that have been there for decades, without a spill. Why is it, Obama announces that drilling for new oil is being considered now to make us more independent and on Earthday, one blows up? Why is it that that emergency valve, that was supposed to prevent that failed and every preventitive measure, also failed? Why is it that Obama sent SWAT teams to man the rigs? You see where I am going with this? The odds are astronmomical that it would happen with all of the other rigs out there right now. A hurricane can blow through there and not have an oil spill...Anon, see, staying at that hotel does work, it shows!

Ok, seriously, when these oil rigs are constructed, at any point in the process does anybody say "hey, we need a shut-off vavle for this thing, cus its possible that i could pollute the whole freakin ocean if it malfunctions". i'm almost tired of hearing about this whole thing because it seems to me that it possibly could have been prevented, i mean , its a billion dollar industry...and you didnt think of preventative measures in case of emergency.

Why have they waited this long. Taxpayers shouldnt have to pay to fix this problem either. Our taxes are already high enough. BP should take full responsibility for this problem. Look what this spill has done to our waters.

anon, you have no idea how to do this....hmm, hmmm, just take the sewer pipe, run it to the oil well and after Congress is in session...leak stops, everyone is happy. We know what comes out of congress and I can assure you it is a serious sewer drain problem....see, I stayed at the holiday inn again....
