NEW YORK -- The mothers of three Americans jailed in Iran for 10 months are expected to arrive back on U.S. soil soon after being allowed to visit their children.
A spokeswoman says they are expected to arrive in New York on Saturday afternoon.
The mothers were unable to secure their children's release.
But Swiss Ambassador Livia Leu Agosti in Iran told AP Television News late Friday that it was merely a visit and that the mothers did not negotiate with Iranian officials. Switzerland handles U.S. interests in Iran.
Sarah Shourd, her boyfriend, Shane Bauer, and Josh Fattal were arrested in July along the Iran-Iraq border, and Iran has accused them of espionage.
Their families say that the three were simply hiking and that if they crossed the border, it was accidental.
