Police: WA Deputy Who Killed In-Laws Found Dead

GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- A sheriff's deputy who fatally shot his wife's parents has been found dead in his Gig Harbor, Wash., home after an hours-long standoff.

Police say SWAT team members found the body of 49-year-old Allen Myron after they entered the house early Saturday morning.

The standoff began about 6:30 p.m. Friday after Myron allegedly shot his in-laws and then barricaded himself in the home with two of his children.

The children managed to get out safely during the early hours of the siege.

Tacoma police Detective Gretchen Aguirre says she still doesn't have any details on how Myron died or what prompted the SWAT team to go into the home when it did.

It also wasn't immediate clear what touched off the violence.

Law enforcement officers are just as likely to commit crimes of all types as any other citizen. If you conducted a study that included the incidents where law enforcement officers commit crimes, are caught, but are allowed to resign as punishment in leau of criminal charges, we probably would find that they are more likely to offend. The badge, gun and connections often gives these people a sense that they are untouchable and above the standards that they enforce on others in the community. It is obvious from this case and ones like it that LEO are as likely to have mental breaks or be involved in crimes of stress or passion. LEO's are people, susceptable to the same temptations and tendencies to be corrupted as anyone else.

Now everyone is safe and we do not have to pay to keep him in prison. Another one off the streets. Cop or not.
