A new study finds that millions of seniors signed up for popular Medicare Advantage insurance plans don't often get the best quality.
The study being released Thursday by the consulting firm Avalere Health looked at how the health plans score on a government rating system designed for consumers. The ratings assign one to five stars for quality, with five stars being excellent.
The analysis found that nearly half of Medicare beneficiaries are in plans rated medium to fair on quality. Fewer than one in four had signed up in plans with very good to excellent quality.
