Obama Vacation Means Good Publicity

ASHEVILLE-- Business leaders in a North Carolina mountain city say a visit from the Obama family will bring plenty of good publicity.

The Citizen-Times of Asheville reported Sunday that local officials say having the leader of the free world choose your city for vacation trumps millions in advertising dollars.

The Obamas will arrive in Asheville on Friday and plan no public events. The family will spend the weekend at the Grove Park Inn.

Asheville spends about $2.5 million a year to advertise as a tourist destination and the Convention and Visitors Bureau says almost 3 million people come to visit and stay the night each year.

The city has been drawing well-heeled visitors for more than a century and is home to Biltmore, the country's largest privately owned home.
