Files Show Future Pope Resisted Defrocking Priest

Church files show that before becoming pope, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger resisted defrocking a California priest who molested children.

A 1985 letter signed by Ratzinger cited concerns about the effect that removing the priest would have on "the good of the universal church."

The correspondence was obtained exclusively by The Associated Press. It is the strongest challenge yet to the Vatican's insistence that Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, played no role in blocking removal of pedophile priests while head of the Catholic Church's doctrinal watchdog office.

The letter is part of years of correspondence between the diocese of Oakland and the Vatican about the proposed defrocking of the Rev. Stephen Kiesle.

The Vatican confirmed Ratzinger's signature on the letter but declined comment on its contents.

To all those who are Catholic,I love you and so doesent JESUS.JESUS never once preached Religion. He said that He(JESUS) is the only WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE and NO man comes to God the Father except through ME (JESUS) He has made us all who trust in HIM to be Priests by breaking down the barrier between us and GOD.

Folks, this religion has been around even before CHRIST came on this earth. It started with Nimrod. Its a man made religion and religion cant save anyone, only Jesus CHRIST who gave himself as an offering for your sins.Ask Jesus into your life and to forgive you.

Why would the pope admit wrong doing in his church, thats like Nancy Peloser admitting the obama health care reform bill is screwing the citizens of the US.

trugod7-holy generalization batman! Every civilization, including America, is guilty of attempting to record history in their favor. It is called "spin" and politicians are masters of it. Also your quote about the devil not existing is completely out of left field. What it has to do with your rant is beyond me. My question is where is the evidence that the devil exists in the first place?

Of course he would'nt defrock him, because somewhere in the twisted mind of the european, he probably realized the level of hypocracy he'd have reach by doing it. Ratzinger probably realized that to defrock the preist was to defrock himself. This thing with these "preists" and these little boys go way back to when the catholic church would come into the home and take walking aged sons out of the house and keep them until they were seven yrs. old. That way they could mold and shape (program) them any way they saw fit. The european has always been a master at hiding their misdeeds and atrocities, and then making the world turn blind eyes and deaf ears to them, ironically enough, using the media and their control over history. Everybody knows that history is written by the winners, & since the european won, it's HIS-STORY that gets told; and from his perspective as well. You've heard before," THE GREATEST TRICK THE DEVIL EVER PULLED WAS CONVINCING THE WORLD THAT HE DID'NT EXIST".
