Reid's Wife, Daughter Injured In Highway Accident

The daughter of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been released from a Virginia hospital after undergoing treatment for injuries suffered in a four-vehicle crash. Her mother, Landra Reid, is being treated for serious injures.

Mrs. Reid, who is 69, is in the trauma intensive care unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia That's just south of Washington. The crash broke her nose, neck and back. She's in serious condition but is not expected to require surgery.

Officials say a semi-tractor trailer loaded with rolls of plastic struck the family minivan from behind during stop-and-go traffic. Two other vehicles, a SUV and a car were also involved in the pileup.

Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer, an Ohio man, was charged with reckless driving. He was not injured.
