Two Pringles Flavors Recalled

Procter & Gamble is recalling two flavors of its Pringles chips because they may be tainted with Salmonella.

The Cincinnati-based company is offering replacement coupons or refunds for the "Cheeseburger" and "Taco Night" versions of the snack. The company has had no reports of illness.

P&G is the latest company to recall products with flavor-enhancing hydrolyzed vegetable protein made by Las Vegas-based Basic Food Flavors.

Salmonella bacteria can cause serious infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems. Federal authorities say Salmonella was found on Basic Food's processing equipment.

Jethro: Light Pringles were discontinued because they were made with Olestra (synthetic fat), which is disgusting. Even though some people were eating them and didn't get that they tasted gross... It doesn't digest and causes diarrhea & inhibits absorption of certain vitamins - not your healthy choice. In the end, the only really good use for P&G's discovery of "Olestra" is for dioxin poisoning treatment, as a paint additive, and as a power tool lubricant. Yummy.

You're a riot, Chester! OutsideLookingIn, Pringles are called "potato crisps" and have several maltodextrin type chemicals in there. (among others) A friend of mine told me that several additives they use cause cancer. The "light" version of these snacks (called "Right Crisps") were discontinued a few years ago. They were even MORE full of chemicals and less potatoes. I wonder why the were discontinued?

I have not eaten Pringle's Chips in many years. Someone once told me they were made from 'potato scraps' and potatos about to go 'bad'. Think about it; each Pringle's chip is the same shape and size. I only eat real 'tater chips; and they are of all sizes and shapes, just like they 'peeled a real 'tater and baked it!'
