Flight Diverted

DENVER -- It looks like alcohol may have had something to do with it.

Officials say a United Airlines jet headed for Las Vegas from Washington, ended up in Denver yesterday after a passenger tried to open an exterior door on the plane during the flight.

The FBI says the suspect had been consuming alcohol before and during the flight. He's been sent for a medical evaluation.

Police at Denver's airport describe the passenger simply as "unruly," but he caused enough of a disturbance that the pilots decided to divert the flight.

The plane was carrying 129 passengers and five crew members.

It continued on to Las Vegas and landed safely after 8 last night.
