How To Help Haiti

A massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti Tuesday damaging schools, hospitals, and other buildings. Charitable organizations across the U.S. are now gearing up to send aid to the already impoverished country.

If you are interested in helping immediately you can text HAITI to 90999 and a donation of $10 will be given to the Red Cross automatically to help with relief efforts, the money will then be charged to your cell phone bill.

Another way to donate automatically is through Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti, an organization already set-up to help the struggling country. Simply text Yele to 501 501 to donate $5 to the efforts.

You can also go online and check out organizations such as the Red Cross and Mercy Corps to make a contribution to the relief efforts. Other organizations to consider can be found by clicking here.

You know the funny thing about all this is when 9/11 happened, countries from all over the world donated money to America. All the hundreds of millions and billions of dollars that were donated. Here we are headed towards 9 years since it happened and NO NEW TOWERS AND NO TRACE OF THE MONEY!!!! Only in America will you see this kind of behavior..

Barnie, how dare you try to send any of us on a guilt trip, will not work. The people of the US have always given freely and I see no reason why they should not do so now. Some of the post are simply showing their frustration with our own government (which have no ears), loss of jobs, deteriorating retirement programs, high cost of food, fuel for heating, gasoline, or any other service or product we need for living. It took obama 3 days to respond to the Ft. Hood shooting, and about the same time for the "under wear" bomber. but took only a short time (same day) for a response to Haiti. When I give money to any organization I only expect 25-35% to be applied to the cause.

Renae, UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is already on the way (actually was already in) Haiti. 100% of your donation will go directly to those in need.

I understand that Haiti is going through a lot and they need help, but no more than the United States needs it. I think that we should force our crooked politicians and crooked rich executives to give it to the needy or else send them to prison. I beleive in helping out other nations at times like that, but we have our own problems making it through ourselves as one nation.

I knew the director of the orphanage in Haiti and saw that this morning she and all the children were safe and sound. I pray for those who lost their lives and are seriously injured.
