NBC: Leno In Prime-time To End

NBC confirmed that the Jay Leno prime-time experiment is over.

NBC Universal Television Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin said Sundays that Leno's nightly prime-time show will end with the beginning of the Winter Olympics on Feb. 12.

Gaspin says NBC wants Leno to do an 11:35 p.m. show each night, a return to his old time slot. He wants Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon's shows to shift back a half hour. Gaspin says that's not a done deal, but he hopes to have NBC's late-night lineup cleared up by the beginning of the Olympics.

Gaspin said Leno's show performed well enough in the ratings for the networks, but it did not meet the needs of NBC's affiliates.

Carson was much better...stopped watching right after Jay took over. Conan is not funny. Sad to say, but Letterman is the funniest right now ( politics and sex aside )

Aw, NBC should let Leno stay on at 10pm! He would be good for keeping in line with NBC's slogan, "more colorful" so far as his humor goes. Sure, I'm being facetious here; if NBC jettisoned his show and even gave Conan the Barbarian walking papers and *MAYBE* replaced 'em with more wholesome, family-friendly shows...oh, wait, I forgot, this is the 21st century. That may have worked in the Ozzie & Harriet days, but you're toast if you try that now. Ahhh, the signs of the times.

To Bababoey, you are so right, Jay's been ripping off the Howard Stern for years; Jaywalking, work for your plug, ross the intern, jaywalking allstars, picking football pics against a chicken, he even hired stuttering john to be an announcer... Jay Leno is a hack! long live the King of All Media- Hey Now

Conan O'Brian is my favorite late night host, Leno is just annoying. I wish NBC had just let him go.

Why doesn't NBC see if Queen Elizabeth would do the 10:00 spot for Leno? Now, SHE would be funny!

I once heard a story about Leno that said he bought a motorcycle from someone in New Bern, and then laughed at the guy for selling it so cheap. Made fun of him! I don't know what truth there is to the story, but I had no inclination for respect of Leno since then.

Leno is a jerk. Never, ever was funny. I watched the Tonight show when Johnny Carson was host - now there's a funny guy. But when Leno filled in for him, it simply flopped. When leno sook over, I didn't even bother anymore. Glad to have him off the prime time slot. Good riddance, and good bye.
