GOP Chairman Says Reid Should Step Down Due To Racial Remarks

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican Party chairman says Sen. Harry Reid should step down as the Senate Democratic leader over racial remarks Reid made about Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign.

GOP Chairman Michael Steele says if a Republican had made such remarks, Democrats would be calling for that Republican's head.

In a private conversation reported in a new book, Reid described Obama as a "light-skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

Reid has apologized to Obama, and the president said he considers the episode closed.

Democratic Party chairman Tim Kaine says the remarks should not affect Reid's leadership position.

Steele and Kaine spoke on "Fox News Sunday."

I tend to agree with Mike of Edenton. Harry Reid should have stepped down a long time ago and there should not have even been such a private conversation that he could have said the such thing that has sparked up all this controversy.

I love the comments made by the white Boston Mayor to a group of largely minorities in Boston saying that opponents of the democrat in the election there for Senate want Obama to fail. White Democrats play the race card more than anyone. They control the minorities in their party and fight to keep that control and keep them loyal and blind to their corruption.

About 3 days ago i posted a remark directly quoting harry reid but describing another individual. my comments were censored by witn, i guess because they were inappropriate & perhaps racist. with that in mind, if a remark is deemed inappropriate for witn to post, then its logical to see that Ried's remarks were wrong & racist. I would love commentary from witn on this truth.
