UPDATE: Three Dead, Five Injured In Shooting At St. Louis Plant

Authorities now say three people are dead and five are wounded after a man armed with an assault rifle and a handgun opened fire at a St. Louis, Missourit manufacturing plant.

Authorities haven't confirmed whether one of the eight was the gunman.

Police have been going room by room inside the sprawling plant, searching for the shooter and additional victims.

Authorities say three of the wounded are in critical condition and two are in fair condition.

The shooting began 6:30 a.m. Thursday at the ABB Power plant. Nearby Interstate 70 was closed in the area around the plant.

Swiss-based ABB Group makes power transmission and industrial automation equipment. The company's Web site says it manufactures transformers at the St. Louis site. A spokesman says about 270 people work at the St. Louis plant.

Fire Department spokesman Bob Keuss says authorities believe the shooter is still in the building.

Names of the victims were not released. Two were hospitalized in critical condition, one in serious condition. The other had minor injuries.
