Senate OK's Health Care Measure

The Senate has passed President Barack Obama's landmark health care overhaul extending medical insurance to 30 million Americans.

The bill requires nearly all Americans to buy insurance and forbids insurance companies from denying coverage based on patients' pre-existing conditions.

The Senate's bill must still be merged with legislation passed by the House before Obama could sign a final bill in the new year.

Liz, this is the problem I have with it, it pertains to you and me. So, why are they violating the law? If it is good enough for you and me, doesn't it bother you that they get a more elite policy than us? Read below; "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

This health care bill is very confusing but I know is going in the right direction to try and get people who don't have it. I myself have an associates degree I don't have health care and yes I receive EBT (food stamps) but to those who don't know and think we just live off the system you have to have a job my pay is not that good but you must work to receive the benifits. When I go to the doctor I have to pay off top 96.00 at least per visit this is just my situation and I am doing the best I can my kids are not animals or thugs either.SO to all of you that think the worst of people like us you don't know each person's situation excuse me for not getting an abortion with my children and getting a good job. I do pay taxes also.

If the public option is no longer in this bill then why hasn't the cost dropped dramatically? Can anyone answer without telling a lie? Did not think so.

PD, if you look at the polls, enough said. Obama has done worse than Jimmy Carter, why? Both houses do not reflect the agenda of the people that put them there. The next election will not be a vote for a republican, it will be a vote to get rid of democrats. Someone, Hagan is a good example, does she work for you and me? Appears, she works for a party.

OSOC- Sorry, I never did like Clinton, and very much admired Sen Dole's history and intellect during the last Clinton election. What, exactly, will come "loose" off of Obama in 2012? LOL.

@xoxoxo: Didn't Jesus say GIVE the man a fish and he eats for a day. TEACH the man to fish and he eats for a lifetime? I think we are supposed to help others out of kindness and service to others. I don't think the government should force us to give to those that won't help themselves.

PD, pretty sure a liberal voice like yours voted for Clinton. Now, you are just in denial. No discussion here, just observation. I am sure after Obama looses in 2012 you will deny voting for him as well. We all know the drill. Playing armchair quarterback is not my game.

PD needs to discuss Bin Laden issues with military personnel that has been to Tora Bora mountains. If you had 300 million dollars and access to more if needed, could you hide yourself and evade prosecution? Sure you could but not forever. His days are numbered and I believe there are many factors of why he's been transparent since 9/11. How is it Bush' fault? Discuss this with military dude or someone that's been there and knows what's going on and stop blaming Bush etc..

While people in America are hungry in the streets and losing their homes, no jobs to be had, airlines attacked, businesses failing, government running amuk, big business robbing the working man, your precious Obama is in an extended vacation in Hawaii at tyaxpayers expense!

Here's one actual example of your typical obamacare supporter,; true story. Over the weekend I asked a close relative; a 30 yr old employed, no insurance but can afford it; if this bill passes are you going to by insurance or pay the much cheaper fine? She just grinned and sayed "I don't know". The correct answer should have been 'buy insurance'. Sad.
