Police Stop Generous Indiana 5th-Grader With $10,000

Police say a fifth-grader handed out about $300 to others on the bus ride to his eastern Indiana school. Problem is, they say, the cash was among some $10,000 he took from his grandparents' safe.

Delaware County Sheriff George Sheridan says the boy was riding the bus to Selma Elementary School when he handed out the money on Friday, the last school day before Christmas vacation began.

Children who received the ones, fives and twenties told teachers and the principal, and the sheriff's department was called.

Officers found the boy carrying the rest of the cash, which was returned to his grandparents. Police weren't certain what he intended to do with the money or how he got it from the safe.

The kid tried to look cool in front of the whole school. Yes he might have intended well by doing so but that kid would have ALL his Christmas gifts given to charity for that, since he is so generous lets see how generous he would be with his own belongings!

I would have beat that kid until he could not see straight for committing grand larceny. That is unless it was mother-in-law and he split the dough with me!

I have to agree that this boy meant well. He may have heard his classmates talking about tough times, etc... and he wanted to play a 'Christmas Robin Hood'. He may have been trying to make friends. Now, I agree he should have 'consulted' with G.Ma/G.Pa first, but his heart was in the right place. I'm amused, and wish him a nice Christmas. He may be a future philanthropist.

Um you don't mean well when you are steeling from someone. Unfortunately I am thinking he just wanted to be cool so i hope he does have some sort of consequence for his action.
