Obama: All Nations Must Follow Standards For War

President Barack Obama, accepting his Nobel Peace Prize, says all nations must follow standards on the use of force.

The president, who last week ordered 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan, says he reserves the right as commander in chief to act unilaterally to defend the U.S. But he also said he is convinced that sticking to standards strengthens the countries that follow them -- and isolates and weakens those countries that don't.

Even when confronted with an adversary that doesn't follow any rules, Obama said the U.S. must remain a standard bearer in the conduct of war.

Obama spoke Thursday during a ceremony at city hall in Oslo, Norway, where he formally accepted the peace prize he was awarded in October.

Is one of those rules to bring enemy combatants on to US soil where they can be released by their fellow implanted terrorists? Is part of the new rules to make hostages of the people in that town until the detainees are released? This is the most idiotic thing this president and cabinet have done yet. Now, they will be a danger to a town of 500 people. Nice job there,...sparky!

The way to fight any war is to let the military do it's job and get the press and politics out of there. Maybe if "Mr. Know It All" will don some Battle gear and go over there on the action line we could win this with just talk. Thats what he is good for; meanwhile in the real world our best are still dying to carry out what??? God save us.Bomb them until they glow.

Albert, don't put me in your "what were we thinking" category. I read this guys book, learned about the shadow party and Soros to understand he was no more than a pawn to Soros. Also, look up cloward and piven. This is what Obama is all about. Even the left doesn't know what they have instore for the US. This explains the overspending of tax money and the debt, the stimulus, healthcare......destroy America.

Wolfgang I also heard that on 60 Minutes. I was also thinking. He just told al Quaeda and Bin Laden are future war stratagy on TV. We will reduce are forces and start withdraw out of our war zones in 2011. So now al Quaede waits sits in it's caves and hide outs , arming and sharping there swords till when 2012,2013,2014,2015 America is out of there way now. Then attack in full force. Thanks to Obama thats what is going to happpen. Hey maybe thats what Obama wants. Heck it just like he would have got on TV and told the German Army D - Day will be on June 6, 1944 on the beaches in Normandy France. He just gave al Quaede the same sort of info. Obama legacy Americas greatest war traitor. I still cannot believe he gave al Queade are war plans on national TV. Just think of all the American lives giving away that war info will cost? That was just plain stupid. Oh I forgot no teleprompter to tell him what to say on TV. Oh well. I can't believe he got elected. What were we thinking?

History will tell what this president did or did not accomplish as it will also do for Bush. For now lets just concentrate on making sure this particular president makes it safely back to his community organization life in 2012. Then roll up our sleeves and put the "us" back in USA and then lets find a way to rein in this massive government. Keep every piece of legislation that PROTECTS the people WITHOUT giving to the people that which they did not earn. Capitalism only thrives in non-socialist societies. Companies live and die based on the market, their management and their ability to adjust. The only people saving a company are the people working for the company. BASIC health care for everyone in a strong thriving Nation should be a goal of that Nation but not a promise or a mandate. And BASIC means BASIC not free cancer therapy or free organ transplant or free diabetes care or free dialysis etc... It means treating BASIC ailments and those diseases that can spread to others.

Right, he is quite unpresidential...oops, meant "unprecidented".
  • by Obama Snake Oil Co Location: Washington on Dec 14, 2009 at 01:12 PM
Jeff, it was 57 states, I think it included the UK? Why that remark was unprecidented just like Obama telling our war plans to our enemies on 60 mins last night, unprecidented.

You're joking right? 1)obama was talking about the local cops, did I say anything about all cops? He said it and meant it, period. Without thinking, his true racist feelings emerged but he's too arrogant to apologize. Were you there? If not, then how do you know all parties were stupid? you're as bad as him!! 2) Been attending church for 40 years in this area, attended several different ones and NEVER heard ANYTHING like the crap wright spewed. If one is as faithful as obama claimed, one would not listen to such hatred unless you believe it. 3) OK, all is fair in the political arena? Tell me why then it was okay to call Palin names and make negative statements about her yet according to obama supporters and the media, doing the same to obama was not acceptable and considered to be racist, antiAmerican, hateful, etc...? 4)She did use moral convictions to gain public support. Duh. Morals/or a lack thereof, is a deciding factor for alot of us when casting our vote for office.
