SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Deaf students will get their own spelling bee next week in Illinois.
The Statewide Dead Finger-Spelling Bee will be held at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield.
The bee is in its 13th year. It's an effort to let students with hearing disabilities participate in educational activities similar to their peers who hear.
It's patterned after the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee, but is modified for sign language.
