A manhunt is over in the Seattle area. A sheriff's spokesman says Seattle police have fatally shot the man suspected of gunning down four police officers over the weekend. The spokesman says Maurice Clemmons was shot and killed early today in a Seattle neighborhood.
Police had fanned out over two counties, storming homes and canvassing city streets with dogs as the search for Clemmons continued early Tuesday.
Authorities say Maurice Clemmons had received help since the Sunday morning shooting in Tacoma from a network friends and family. They gave him places to stay, medical aid, rides and money. Officers late Monday detained a sister of Clemmons who they think treated the 37-year-old suspect's gunshot wound.
Police say anyone helping him could face charges.
Authorities have found a handgun carried by the killer, along with a pickup truck belonging to the suspect with blood stains inside.
