Body Of Missing Fort Bragg Soldier Found In Afghanistan

The Pentagon said the body of 24-year-old Sgt. Brandon Islip of Richmond, Virginia, was found Sunday.

The Associated Press reported Islip and another paratrooper were swept away in a river current while on an airdrop resupply mission.

Islip was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

British divers found the body of 21-year-old Spc. Benjamin Sherman of Plymouth, Mass., on November 10th.

Police in Afghanistan say the paratroopers were swept away as they tried to recover air-dropped supplies that had accidentally fallen into the water.

Islip enlisted in the Army in 2006 and was on his second deployment to Afghanistan.
