National Guard Called To D.C. High School Football Game

The National Guard was called to a Washington D.C. high school football game Friday night.

That's because the firm that provides security for the public schools in the District of Columbia went out of business.

Anacostia High School normally has 15 guards at its games. But Hawk One Security abruptly closed up shop Thursday, Hundreds of security guards were without jobs, and schools across the district were left without security.

At least a dozen D.C. military reserve showed up at the Anacostia game, along with more than a dozen metropolitan police.

Why would they call out the National Guard, they have no authority to arrest or detain, remember the Guard on the Mexico/US border, just watch and report. Referring to the National Guard as "limp wristed" only shows that you are not nor have you ever been in "The Guard", time to keep your trap closed or join "The Guard", but the you may not have the required qualifications.

It's unfortunate that many believe all large cities are full of negativity. Before one comments on what is reported, ensure you have all the facts first. Then remember that our country at large has greater issues that needs to be addressed like education, employment and the economy. Not only do the large cities have their share of problems, rural America fares no better. But while we down talk one another it goes with the old saying to divide and conqueror. And for this, we will never be a United, but Divided States of America.

D.C. must be full of thugs and parents not doing their jobs teaching their kids right from wrong. They're all fat dumb & happy not working living on wellfare from the government! The national guard wouldn't have been called out if D.C. wasn't full of thugs?

keep in mind that more than half the forces in IRAQ is national guard, also the NC guard is currently deployed to IRAQ for the second time. Not too much of a limp wristed joke is it? It is in my opinion that it is a very bad thing that a school should need so much security.

Why does the media want to make everything sound so sensational and like an emergency? The National Guard wasn't called out because there was some riot, only because their normal security went out of business.
