College Bans Sex With Roommate Around

Sex in a dorm at Tufts University is fine. Sex in a Tufts dorm with your roommate there? That's a no-no.

The Boston-area school has a new policy this semester banning sexual activity while a roommate is in the same room.

A school spokeswoman said Tuesday that Tufts issued the rule after a dozen or so complaints in the past three years.

The school maintains the new policy is about respect and consideration, not about regulating students' behavior.

The policy is aimed at the school's 5,000 undergraduates. Officials say they hope it'll get roommates talking about how to best share space.

How in the world did they come up with this rule? How are they going to enforce it? Gonna take the roommate's word. Gonna put cameras in all the dorm rooms. It's just going to be another rule in the books that will quietly disappear in the mix until something bad happens and then it will be brought out to ruin someone's reputation. Apparently some roommates got mad because they feel like their space is being improperly intruded upon. I agree - it's in bad taste. But hey! Tell them that if you can't join in then they'll have to go 'get-a-room' at the local cheap hotel or at least next time bring someone back for you too.

I work at a college and this discussion came up and, sad to say, a number of my students honestly did not understand why it would be good manners to stop if someone walked in on them until that person left. We are living in different and not so good times...

Why in the world does society accept sex before marriage? Prayer left schools and discipline left homes, now sex enters schools, what's next? IT IS NOT OKAY!! Why don't parents enforce the moral values that they should, I understand there are those that do and the kids are gonna do what they want, but most parents are not doing their JOB that is why our country is in the shape it's in. Children are running things with brains that are not fully matured! Adults are no longer in control, the kids are. This is truly SAD and DISGUSTING!!! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Are you serious? Like this is happening in every dorm room. I don't know where some of you go to college but um, I don't think this has been a real problem. I could send a list of other problems I wish they would ban. This is so weird and random. Is this real?! Maybe all my friends and past roommates had some class and self respect.
