House Votes To Deny All Federal Funding For ACORN

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The House has voted to deny all federal funding for ACORN, the community organizing group that has been caught up in several scandals.

The House action came several days after the Senate took a similar vote to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN.

Republicans, long critics of the liberal-leaning group that advocates for the poor, led the effort to cut off all federal funds.

California Republican Darrell Issa, who sponsored the measure in the House, says the "scandal surrounding the criminal activities of ACORN have called into question their role in all aspects of government."

The vote, on a provision attached to a student aid bill, was 345-75. All 75 no votes were Democrats.

Lavon, The United States spends more than $400 million on overseas family planning assistance each year. Google "Mexico City Policy" you will have your answer. Under the Mexico City Policy created in 1984 by Ronald Reagan, to keep abortion facilities from receiving any of these funds. Clinton recinded the plan, Bush reinstated it and Obama recinded it. In other words, your tax money is paying for abortions in Somalia.

Lavon, wait a minute, Obama passed that legislation for abortions in other countries in the first 30 days of his term. Where have you been, sleeping again? You must be looking forward to the gas lines, well, be patient, you will be able to sell hot dogs to people waiting in lines. With Israel posed to strike Iran, it may be sooner than you think. Of course Bev is pondering drilling for oil off of NC coast so that would help avoid gas lines. Right now, we depend on outside countries.

Snake Oil- Hold on wait a minute. You said the houses are going to fund abortions in Somalia? Now where in Gods name did that come from? Once again your making up stuff just to try and justify your whining. Face it dude you and the rest of your obstructionist buddies up here just want something to fuss about and thats all. You guy's complaining and whining has much to do about nothing but just that, complaining, whining and jealousy... Oh yea im still looking for those long gas lines but I haven't found them yet Snake Oil.

Snake Oil- Im not like you and take up for a Joe Wilson when you know he's wrong. If Acorn did something wrong then they should be punished, I don't care who they support. If your wrong your wrong. Too bad you don't have enough galls to admit when someone is wrong like Joe Wilson. Hey Wolfgang i'll ask you again. How does it feel to know that you have no option but to let insurance companies rip you off with Health Insurance premiums. Do you not think that's a form of communism for an industry to force you to pay them if you want insurance. Hey Snake Oil can you show me some documentation where Medicare is Bankrupt?

Hi Lavon - What are you talking about? There are many insurance companies to choose from. All have different policies and rates ,car, house, boats, health, the list goes on. Lavon please keep the moonshine out of your kool-aid.

Well Lavon, where have you been? We missed you on the ACORN stories of corruption. Insurance 101 for ya, they take the risk, not the government. They have to payout for insurance and average the cost to the insured and still show a profit. With a government system, the cost would go to taxpayers no matter what the cost over year. When it falls in debt, taxpayers will fund it until they are bankrupt like Medicare. The houses will borrow off the money, typically, like they did with Social Security since it is paid in like taxes are. There is your problem. Now, if there were provisions to make that illegal, it might have a chance, but, as usual, its not. So when the houses need money to fund Abortions in Somalia, they just borrow from the healthcare fund. Typical government, good intentions that lead to corruption. So, what did you think of ACORN or have you distanced yourself from them like the rest of liberal democrats that started the org?

well, considering what we have for a government right now, we might as well not have one.

Hey Wolfgang how does it make you feel that you only have one choice to have insurance and that through insurance companies? Don't you think that's a form of communism?

Wolfgang- You better hope and pray you never see the day where there's no Government in America. Go live in Somalia for a month and I guarantee when you get back you will praise the US Government for being in place. Thank God for the US Government!!!

Obama is turning his back on ACORN just like he is turning his back on the American people. The President of the United States should never bow to no one, unless he is bowing his head in prayer. American is not a muslim nation, he is withdrawing plans for a missle defense, so Russia will be happy? Iran is no threat? Investigating the CIA for their interrogation of terrorists, so America will be safer? If it makes us safer, I dont see anything wrong with it, they declared war on us.
