Nightmare Flight: Passengers Stuck In Plane For Nine Hours

Passengers whose flight from Houston to Minneapolis was diverted because of storms had to spend nine hours on the cramped plane on an airport taxiway while a new crew was flown in.

Friday night's ExpressJet flight normally would have taken about three hours but was diverted to Rochester, Minn., because of bad weather.

Airline spokeswoman Kristy Nicholas says a new crew had to be flown into Rochester because the original crew had reached their maximum flight hours allowed. She says passengers weren't allowed to sleep in the terminal because the airport didn't give the airline the option.

The flight made it to the Minneapolis on Saturday.

Passenger Link Christin says being trapped in the plane with its overused bathrooms was a "nightmare."

the airline didn't handle this matter well at all. the airline could have insisted that the airport take the passengers inside the terminal. neither did the FAA. they could have issued permission for the crew to fly to their destination. flying anywhere these days...iraq or charlotte... is no bed of roses. sometimes though, you just have to do it. when you do, expect the worst, then you will not be surorised at anything.

Yall are a bunch of babies! Think about the soldiers who fly from the US to KUWAIT. 10.5 hrs across the atlantic, then another 6 hrs from europe to kuwait. On Our flights there are no empty seats. or leg room due to weapons and gear.

i may have ended up arrested but a door would have been opened and an emergency ramp deployed.
