Senate Confirms Sotomayor For Supreme Court

President Barack Obama is lauding the barrier-breaking confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor to be the first Hispanic justice on the Supreme Court.

Said the president: "With this historic vote, the Senate has affirmed that Justice Sotomayor has the intellect, the temperament, the history, the integrity and the independence of mind to ably serve on our nation's highest court."

Sotomayor will be sworn in on Saturday and appear with Obama at the White House on Wednesday.

Obama spoke moments after the Senate confirmed Sotomayor on Thursday.

The president called the occasion a wonderful moment for Sotomayor's family -- and for America.

She replaces retiring Justice David Souter, who has retired.

Obama could take 80% of some of these idiots in taxes and they would still kiss his butt. Remember his campaign promise..no tax increases for anyone making less that $200,000. Well guess what, Now he is saying the middle class will have to have higher taxes to pay for his socialized health care. And if anyone disagrees, they are labeled a racist or an angry mob. Seems free speech is only free is you say what the obama socialist want to hear.

I think we need to have term limits on "jueces de la corte suprema" seeing as the think we NEED a hispanic on the highest American court. I lament the downfall of a once great nation. America's best days are over ...at least for 4 years :-(....

Actually John Republicans nominated an Hispanic judge first and the Dems wouldn't even allow a vote. It seems to me the only ones who are preoccupied with race are the Dems. Look at these posts and see who is bringing it up. If the good guys are the ones who want to destroy everything that has made this country great then yes they won. It is not about diversity it is about quality. All the Republicans who voted for her should be ashamed and voted out next time.

A racist nominating another racist. God help us all. I agree with Mike. How about nominating a white racist? To reflect all our diversities. Can you say Double Standard?

This woman is RACIST towards White people. She proved it on more than 1 occasion. Her little comment about "A wise Latino woman being more qualified to make a decision than a old White man" proved exactly how she feels about White people.
