An environmental advocacy group says pollution remains a serious problem at US beaches.

The "National Resources Defense Council" released a report today ranking 200 popular beaches across the country.

It ranked the beaches based on water quality, how often they are monitored for pollution, and how well they notified the public of contamination.

Local beaches receiving four out of five stars include, Nags Head, Ocracoke Jennett's Pier in Dare County and Cape Hatteras. Ocean City, Maryland was the only five star beach on the East Coast.
