Coroner: Baby Had More Than 100 Rat Bites

The autopsy results are in for the baby found dead and covered in animal bites in her crib in suburban New Orleans, Louisiana.

The coroner says the evidence suggests rodent bites killed the baby girl, who was three months old.

The report says Natalie was bitten more than a hundred times by what appear to be rats.

The coroner is basically saying she died because she bled to death because of the bites.

Lisa LeNormand is the baby's grandmother.

"This is devastating. Nobody thought this would happen like that, and I don't really know what to say," LeNormand said.

She blames Natalie's death on the landlord.

"They would have let nothing happen to that child, and this is all his fault," LeNormand said. "This is all the landlord's fault. That house was his for 17 years."

Ryan Laine is the baby's uncle.

"Nobody is going to forget this in our family. It's going to haunt us for awhile," Laine said. "This is destroying us. I hope we can pull through this as a strong family and I hope my sister, I hope she doesn't get charged with something like this. This is a freak accident. I know she didn't mean it. I know she was a good mother."

As far as the police investigation into alleged neglect, the police chief says it is still an investigation.

The parents are seeking to regain custody of their one-year-old boy.

These people are either delusional or high on something to blame the landlord....Take the blame for your own irresponsibility...I just hope someone gets criminally charged in this matter & this person is no longer allowed to have children.....

The parents are ultimately the ones to blame. They new the rats were there and should have gotten their children out. I hope they don't give the one year old back. How could a parenjt let this happen. I just don't understand. I would have slept in my car before I would have let my children be exposed to rats or any kind of vermin. They should be charged with murder!

Did these people try to rid the house of the multitude of rats? There are lots of inexpensive ways to do this. The baby is safe, at peace and not in pain, the family has much to live with.

Thirty years ago, I was taught that 'the children would suffer from the sins of the Fathers'; I heard in the 60's, that the world would have a 'population explosion', and we would be unable to handle services, food supplies, resources, fuel, etc... to handle the multitude of people(due to resistance/ignorance to using birth control). Well, here is the unfolding result of that explosion; uneducated, violent, drug-induced, hand-out folks. Don't bother replying to my post with more violent/abusive posts; Some of us have seen it coming all along. The Truth is hard to swallow, I'm sure. Where is Obama on this one?

"Lisa LeNormand is the baby's grandmother: She blames Natalie's death on the landlord." Wow, how lame is that one? Let a couple of rats bite you a couple of times; would you cry out? I bet you would, and I bet this tiny human being tried to cry out too. Someday, God will measure out justice.

First, let me say this is a tragedy. And I also think that the baby had to have cried. But everyone who's saying they should have just moved and can't believe that they stayed there. Look where this took place - New Orleans! Poverty is so prevalent in that area and many of these people have no other options. Other articles say that they had set traps trying to get rid of them.
