Kidde Pulls Faulty Smoke Detectors

Kidde model P-I 2000 with dual sensor fails to warn owners of a fire when an electrostatic discharge causes the alarm to malfunction.

Only alarms dated Aug. 1, 2008 through May 4, 2009 are being recalled. The date codes can be found on the back of the alarm.

Alarms were sold at retail, department and hardware stores nationwide for roughly $30 to $40.

Owners of a faulty alarm should contact Kidde to receive a replacement free of charge.

Contact Kidde for questions or concerns toll-free at (877) 524-2086 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
