Report: Sarah Palin Announces Resignation

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she will resign from office July 26.

Her spokesman wouldn't say why Palin decided to step down, but the announcement stirred speculation that she would focus on a bid for the 2012 Republican nomination for president.

Spokesman Dave Murrow says Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate made the announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla on Friday morning.

Palin was first elected in 2006 on a populist platform.

Thanks for having my back OSOC. But I think everyone in the country wanted to know who the governor of a state with 600 000 people in it really was. It didn't help either that she brought the attention to herself. And besides, we can also blame the media all we want, but remember they are in the business of selling a story, regardless if it is true or not. As for the party, any rational thinker could never 100% support a party. What I like about most other countries is that there are usually more than 2 front-running political parties. Two popular parties just isn't enough, and its unfortunate that the independents are often drowned out. I was really liking Ron Paul near the end, I still do actually.

Still sorry, that my party doesn't care if you have a job or income, but we still need the money for minows in Ca that may be killed during growing season. But mainly, I am sorry and dissappointed by how my party treated Palin and her family. I am sorry that such a blatant and vile attack too place on people that were not different than you or me. For this, I will vote straight Republican ticket in the next elections. Derek, I don't blame Bush for what my party is doing and has been doing for almost 3 years. It is their fault since they controlled both houses or you haven't paid attention to the facts. Now, I am sorry if this offends you but I am sorry you didn't read the facts and timelines. Sorry, have a nice day!

Yea Derek, I was aware of this about Bush. So, with this, being a good democrat I am having to confess to my brothers who post here. First, I am sorry that Obama has spent all of our money and your kids money, I am sorry that we are pushing a healthcare plan that will even further the damage to you children and their children. I am sorry that my party thinks we are servents to their expensive taste to spend on stupid programs. I am sorry that my party endorsed a socialist marxist to take over this country with his Czars, I am sorry that both houses, our houses, rush bills through without even reading them. I am sorry that my party, which has most of the liberals and progressives, are pushing for social changes, no matter who it hurts or what long term effects them might have. I am sorry that we have most of the crazy environmentalist that want us to live in caves and animal rights groups, that want us to only eat roots and berries, sorry, this steps on the feet of environmentalists.

If any woman is to run for president, I expect I want it to be my wife.

Sarah Palin is not qualified to lead a group of Girl Scouts in their annual cookie sales. Yet there are those of you who actually believe she could lead this great country as president. The republican party will not let this "air head" anywhere near then in 2012, because they will definitely be out of office for another four years if she gets on the ticket. This hockey mom couldn't even drive the Zamboni at the hockey rink.

I must admit, I voted for McCain, but I believe Sarah Palin puts her foot in her mouth as much as Joe Biden does. She's WAY to emotional to be president, or even vice-president for that matter. It would be like having a ranting, raving, cursing Lyndon Johnson again, only with tears.

Hi Trenton, NC: Bill Frist is a Republican and former Senate Majority leader. He is, however, a physician too.
